Last night in Vegas. Loved the clowns in O. Loved the diving. Loved the water...but wanted a stronger storyline. I think I liked OVO better. :) Although, I feel like being in a tent makes a difference. Regardless, it was still an amazing show.

The other side of Vegas

Just a minute off the strip is The Arts Factory, a huge warehouse space split into little artist galleries.

Vegas has a huge art district full of talented local artists! What a fantastic local find...I'm so inspired right now. First Thursdays is a preview night at the Factory. First Fridays they take their art to the streets and have a huge showing of all the art in the community.

I played penny slots and put in 6 dollars, and the played and then won and then played, and I cashed out 6 dollars. Yesssss!! But I've probably lost about 75 dollars since I've been here. I wanted to win enough to buy furniture. No such luck so far...

Hoover dam

This isn't actually on the dam wall, but it's close. We didn't take a dam tour. Apparently, there have been a lot of dam movies filmed here. We used the dam bathroom and took some dam pictures. The dam traffic was hell on the way in, but not so bad on the way out. :D

Bellagio conservatory

I am surrounded by flowers and garden statues reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland. The flowers are intoxicating... I'm lost in lilacs, tulips, poppies, chrysanthemums... Oh, and these giant mushrooms. :)

I was at a club and a friend of mine was going to take a picture of me. At that moment, I was trying to avoid dancing with these guys but, apparently, they thought I would enjoy having my picture taken with them. Obviously, they were wrong.

Hello officer...

Last night, my friend Simón calls and says we can get into a show over at Intersection in like 30 minutes... I'm not far away, so i race toward the theater which is just off 16th and Valencia. My brother calls as i'm driving so i'm trying to catch him up on my ridiculous life while looking for parking and, of course, there's no parking to be found....so, when I have about 3 minutes left to get my butt to the door of the theater and I see a spot open up across the street, I pull a crazy SF driving move and flip a U in the middle of 16th Street. I do an exceptional parallel parking job and go to get out of my car to find a cop car pulled up right next to me and two cops staring me down. I say to my brother, "Oh crap...uh, hold on...". I look at the cops and ask if they're going to give me a ticket for talking on the phone. They can't hear me cause I haven't rolled the window down. I roll it down and ask again, and the cop closest to me says in this sassy condescending tone, "Should we give you a ticket for talking on the phone while driving, or for the illegal U turn?". Yeow. I say, "...both...?". The cop just stares at me for a second and then says, "Don't do it again.". ...and they drive away. Holy cow! So, I high tail it over the theater and skate through the door at about 5 after the hour as they're just closing the doors to the show.

Whew!

Random snippets from the trenches of singledom

I wanted to post an unflattering picture of my friends from the club last night, but decided they probably wouldn't appreciate that -- so, here's a picture of the view from my bosses house instead. :)

At the bagel shop, the guy who works there asked if I wanted meat on my breakfast bagel. I said no. Then he asked if I wanted a boyfriend... and if I wanted to go bowling...

Last night at the club, I was with 3 guy friends who are all very good-looking. I surrounded myself with them and still managed to get hit on by a big Filipino guy named Romeo.

I have to admit, the attention is kind of nice -- but I have no idea what to do with it.

Lego man

When I came to the laundry mat tonight, there was a little lego man sitting on the table. He had a little leash and a little dog and he was just sitting there, like someone had emptied him out of their pocket and left him. Him and his little dog. I thought about photographing him, but decided it didn't make any sense.

There was a guy in the laundry mat who saw the little lego man on the table after I left. He picked him up and saved him for me, so when I came back to move my laundry from the washer to the dryer, he looked up from his seat and enthusiastically asked, "did you leave your lego man??". I was perplexed. Another guy walked in at the same time as me, so I looked at that guy, and he answered "no". The lego rescuer also looked at that guy, and then back at me and said, "cause I saw him at the table you were at after you left." to which I replied, "are you talking to me??". He nodded. I told him it wasn't mine. He sat there for a minute thinking, and then got up and took the lego man over to the change machine. He sat the lego man on the edge of the coin dispenser and started photographing him with his phone. Then, I think he took him and put him in a dryer and photographed him there. I watched him while he was doing this. I was enjoying it so much that I started trying to discreetly photograph him photographing the lego man with my phone. I think I might've been audibly giggling and I was obviously staring. At one point I think he could tell, so I stopped without getting a picture. Soon after, he left with the lego man.

I sat in the laundry mat for the next 20 minutes wishing I had photographed the lego man in the first place.

The Wiz

I went to see The Wiz at Contra Costa College tonight (the Jr. College I performed with last year).

There's something incredibly charming about Contra Costa College's community. There's a raw energy and beauty there that I don't seem to find in other parts of the Bay Area -- very rich in diversity and ethnic culture, and then strangely homogeneous in a feeling of openness and acceptance.

Church Key

"My key don't fit my life no more... "

They had a sword swallowing demonstration at Church Key before trivia night, and watching it seriously made me want to vomit.
