As far as I could get

I'm trying to ride to the top of the cemetery. It goes all the way up a hill near where I live. Plot 71 is as far as I can get... Whew!

So, on Thursday night I got to see my friend Jay in a live version of High School Musical 2! He was great!! I hadn't seen any of the movies, but it was fun on the stage.

Last night I watched Shotgun Players Faust part 1. Going from High School Musical to a modern interpretation of Faust is like going from Disneyland to an underground philosophical debate being held by robot geniuses who only speak German. Part of it was actually in German...but most of it probably could have been... But I kind of liked it. My friends, however...called it... masturbatory. ...but such is art, eh?

Tonight is an Improv show, and then on to the set of a local film I know nothing about. We'll be extras at the Halloween party.

Mountain theater!

Today, we took a journey to the mountain theater. We thought we were parked right next to it, but ... we were wrong.

We knew it was an option to do a 2 hour hike to the theater. We weren't planning to take that option, but after many encounters with people encouraging us to "just keep hiking" when we'd ask if were going the right way, we finally made it to the theater about 2 hours later.

Half way though the hike, we found ourselves at the top of the mountain at west point inn. As we walked up, they were just announcing that they had sold 1000 pancakes.

A view from the bridge

Ross Valley Players in Marin tonight.
The theater is on this beautiful plot with bridges, pathways, cottages and gazebos. The playhouse is a big red barn with creaky floors. I loved every bit of it, the show included. A true tale story played by exceptional actors. ... Although, I did find myself critiquing the fights a little more than I felt I should've for such a wonderful performance otherwise...

48 hour film festival!

Last night I got to see my tiny role (in a fabulous short film) on the big screen.

:)

What a fun project! You get your assignment and then have 48 hours to write, shoot, and edit. It's amazing what people are able to accomplish in 48 hours.... I got to be a last minute add to an amazing crew.

At the airport

Is it illegal to take pictures of people in a public place in order to post them on my blog and make fun of them? I mean, I did it in China (the infamous phlegm man) but being half across the world somehow made it seem more okay.

I seem to remember, from my mass communications law class in college, that it is legal to take a photograph of someone if you're both in public or both in private...but not legal to shoot from public to private or vise versa. ...but, I can't remember how publishing laws play out in either case. I know if you're publishing something to make money there has to be some kind of agreement, but if you're just posting on a blog...

Anyway, there's an incredibly annoying man in the airport who's talking loudly on the phone about how some lady keeps calling him to tell him how some kids are going into the neighbor's yard. Apparently he keeps talking to this woman even though, according to him, she annoys him greatly. He keeps telling the person he's on the phone with now how he's so annoyed and how he doesn't f-ing care if the f-ing kids are in the yard. Who cares, he hopes the f-ing kids do fall into the street, who cares! Yeah, and he's just so above this woman that annoys him, that he talks to constantly, that he will sit in the airport and loudly curse the kids in front of a bunch of people waiting for their flights. ...with their kids.

Since the jury's still out on whether or not I can photograph this guy and post him so you can make sure to keep him away from your kids, (the jury... in my head?) I will describe him to you in as much detail as possible. He's Asian. I'm guessing Chinese, because after living around a bunch of Asians, I can actually kind of tell now. About 45yo, 5' 8" with a receding hairline and small eyes that are kind of close together. He seems fit. Looks corporate in that gross I sold my soul to the rat race kind of way, has a mostly nice face (sans the close eyes), slightly nasal medium toned voice, good skin... Yeah, see? He's an average visually normal seeming dude - which is why I really want to photograph him.

...

Ugh, I just walked by him and had to completely resist the urge to punch him in the face.

Sunday

Twinges of pain skip through my head... Am I hungover? ...as I sit and wait to audition. I'm hoping a decaf Americano and a mini scone will get me through. Probably not the best choices. I'm tired. My eyes are blurry and feel puffy, and I feel like my outfit doesn't make sense...(but there's nothing unusual about that last one). I'm not really nervous. ? Okay, now that I wrote that....well, I guess it comes and goes.

Tosca

Last night, Tosca at the park with a bunch of new friends - what a fabulous idea and fabulous time!! :) Opera has reached a new level of fun for those of us who can't afford it. Thank you SF Opera!

Today, I have the opportunity to be in the 48 hour film festival. This guy from improv class is a bit of a filmmaker and invited me to work with him and his team. I'll have a small role as a guitar student. I'm the "artsy/rocker student". Fun!
